ABSTRACT
This work is an investigation into the factors militating against effective teaching of geography in senior secondary schools (a case study of Bosso LGA ). A hundred and twenty questionnaires were distributed among parents and teachers from selected schools in Nigeria. Interviews and surveys were also conducted.
Primary and secondary data were used in the analysis. Tables and percentages were used as the instrument of analysis
It was observed therefore that poor infrastructure, poor library and laboratory, lack of qualified teachers are some of the factors affecting teaching of geography in senior secondary schools. Also, there is a strong relationship between effective teaching and academic performance of geography students in senior secondary schools.
